Roller skating has been around for centuries! It has provided fun and exercise to people all over the world! Skating is a great family activity and perfect for all ages. If your kids are ready to learn how to roller skate, you’ve come to the right place. They will be racing around the rink in no time!
Here are some tips we have for you before teaching your child to roller skate:
- Wear the appropriate gear. Be sure your child has on a helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, and elbow pads correctly. Safety gear will soften the landing if they fall and protect important parts of their body. It will also help them feel more safe!
- Learn the basics. Instruct your little one to keep their knees bent and lean slightly forward. They should then start walking in their skates to practice balancing. After that, you can hold their hand and encourage them to roll. When they feel confident enough to start rolling, show them how to step forward in a diagonal direction and propel forward.
- Practice, practice, and practice some more. No one masters any activity on the first try. Encourage your kiddo to keep practicing even if they take some tumbles. Fun parent tip: Allow them to skate indoors on carpet so falls won’t hurt as bad. With your love and encouragement, your child’s confidence will grow!
- Take advantage of our lessons at Rollerland. While it’s true that practice makes perfect, it’s also true that practice makes permanent. So leave it to the experts and take our skate lessons. When your child has roller skating lessons, they will learn how to skate correctly and confidently!
