If you’ve been practicing hard, but are still finding your roller skating skills just aren’t where you want them to be, don’t worry about it! Rollerland Skate Center has you covered. Check out our tips to boost your skating skills.
First of all, have you taken skate lessons? They’re the best way to improve your skills.
Second of all, relax! If you’re constantly thinking about what you need to do, you’re going to overwhelm yourself. Take a deep breath, shake out the tension in your shoulders, and stop worrying about what you look like. We all look a little silly when we’re learning to skate–and that’s totally fine.
You need to get into a good stance to skate well. Make sure your knees are bent, but not too much. You will feel like you’re going to fall, and your body will naturally want to lean back, but resist that urge. Lean forward for the best balance (trust us!). Stay light on your feet. A good way to do that is to keep your feet moving.
And finally, don’t forget to relax! We’ve said it before, but it’s so important. Fear of falling (or of looking silly) will not do you any favors. Learning how to fall will help alleviate your concerns. So will a very important aspect of skating at Rollerland: the music! Get out of your head and enjoy the tunes, and you’ll find that muscle memory takes over and your skating gets much better.
Remember, the best way to get better is to keep practicing. Put these tips into practice during open skate sessions at Rollerland Skate Center and see how quickly you improve!
